Baghdad 12/3/2009: Iraqi Media Safety Group respects the independence of Iraqi justice system, but at the same it can’t ignore the inciting circumstances related with Muntdher Al-Zeidi trial for throwing shoes on former American president George Bosh.
IMSG believes that Iraqi legal system can show mercy when studying his lawyers appeal to young journalist suffered a very difficult psychological situation.
On the other side IMSG appealing to Iraqi president and premier to ease the sentence on Al-Zeidi, showing concern to his young energies, and to deepen the lesson to avoid shoes and force dialogue.
IMSG is trusting that Iraqi state officials will respond positively to Iraqi Journalists Syndicate and International Federation For Journalists calls to show mercy and easing the sentence on Al-Zeidi, in a move to deepen mercy and rationalization all forms of dialogue within Iraq society , showing respect to others’ opinion and refuse any form of tension in our society, which is in serious need to calm and interacting of multitude opinions.
