After wide preparation with the support and active contacts of IJU's president Jabbar Al-Shumeri, we have held the second IMSG workshop on safety topics.
The two days workshop held on media faculty, Baghdad University. The opening of the workshop attended by IJU president, S.G. and the member of IJU's council, in addition to the Dean of media faculty, many university professors and more than 52 participants. The IJU's president and S.G., the Dean, the donor of the workshop Alsumaria Satellite and the administrator of IMSG, each of them had a speech expressing the support of Iraqi journalists and the support to the demand to legalize a law guarantee security, safety and rights of Iraqi journalists.
The donor speech, which was red by Mr. Ghanem Hemied the famous artist, promised to continue the support of IMSG and IJU.
The Dean of media faculty pay much attention to ways, which enable journalists to protect their lives and their right to work according to the international standards.
The first day, after the opening session, have two lectures:
1. The international standards of journalism in objectivity, balance treatment, accuracy, and equity, by Dr. Abdalamier Alfeisal (40 minutes).
2. First aid, safeguarding and health caring, by Dr. Hasen Ali.
The lectures led to deep discussions, took more than one hour.
• In the second day there were two activities:
1. The lecture of Professor Ferid Ali Amin on "Safety measures in journalist's house, the road, office and covering events (40 minutes).
2. General discussion to the three lectures and any ideas to develop the activities of IMSG and ways to support IJU to defend the journalists' security and work demands (30 minutes).
The participants and IJU attendants asked the administrator to right a letter the Iraqi president, speaker of parliament and prime minister, asking them to fulfill their promises to perform serious measures to protect journalists and punish who attacks them.
