Baghdad,22 Apr2008: A team of Beladi satellite attacked by machine cun during preparing a morning program, Monday morning about 9.- local time, according to a statement by Muhsen Kadhem the head of reporters department.
Adding \" a young man ( about 27 years old ) surprised the Beladi team yesterday shooting them while they were near their car. The photographer, Hemid Hashem was shot 6 times, the driver Azam Hebib got 2 shots. Both of the injured media team were taken to the nearest hospital.
The photogragher spent a critical night, later his condition became stable.
IMSG consider this attack as a revealing action shows the insistence of armed groups to prevent media workers from covering events and express their independent estimation of Iraqi events. This attack took place after less than one month of the assassination of Almouwaten newspaper public relations manager, and about two months after the attack on the life of late Shehap Altemimi Iraqi journalists union president.
IMSG believes that the safety of journalist is part of the security and safety of Iraqi people in general, and this can n\'t be reached without political conciliation put an end to hearted between the fictions of Iraqi people.
Media workers were the main target of criminal attacks which killed 274 journalists.
IMSG resent facing words of media with the bullets and explosions. We believe that these attacks support the demand of IJU to set a law protecting journalists, defending their right to reach information sources, and guarantee their freedom to express their views even if they are different from the views of government or the owner of the media foundation they are working in.
The S.G of International Federation For Journalist Aiden White asked during his visit to Baghdad in the beginning of this year to legalized a law protecting Iraqi journalists, many officials, including the parliament speaker, interior minister and other important officials promised to prove this law as soon as possible.
IMSG asking prime minister and parliament to protect journalists by all means, esp. to hasten legalizing protecting media project.
