Baghdad,20-Adel Hamed editing secretary of "Alfeth" Baghdad newspaper told Iraqi Media Safety Group that his editor- in – chief Reshid Mejeed Alseray have been arrested by American forces13.30 on Thursday 17 January.
Hamed added that "American forces from the unit A-1-32 broke in the house of Alseray in Alshe'b District northeast of Baghdad, they searched the house and took his personal computer and cash money besides the document of his car also.
Hamed expcted that his editor-in- chief was kept in costudy in Alshe'b America military base near the district in which Alseray is living.
Iraqi Journalists Union published a statement denounced "barbarian action of the arrest of Alseray" calling the American forces to release him at once and to compensenate him for the moral and material damages.
The IJU repeated her demand on " the American forces to put an end to the uncivil practices and to show real respect to its obligations to respect the freedom of opinion and to fellow International Geneva protocols."
On the other hand Jasem Selman Alshamany an editor in "Almeshreq" widespread newspaper, was arrested by Iraqi forces of Baghdad- Alkerkh headquarters since five days, according to his neighbors.
Iraqi Media Safety Group consider the arrest of these two journalists as an unreasonable actions, show disrespect to the representatives of public opinion, the independent journalists, calling the American forces to release Alseray and Alshamany, and consider the release of these journalists as a necessity to stick to respect press , the freedom of journalism and not to bother journalists in their assignment by American forces.
There were 251 Iraqi journalists killed since April 2003, including them 13 women journalist, and there are another 13 missing, according to Iraqi Journalists Union's records.
