JOURNALIST DETAINED IN DIYALA

Iraqi Police forces arrested yesterday morning in Diyala Governorate the Journalist Ali Mohammed Sultan Al-Twejiry, as he was on his way together with his mother when he was halted in an Iraqi Police Check Point in Diyala. His colleagues reported that Iraqi Police apprehended him on finding notes relevant to his journalism career.

The Iraqi Group for Media Safety calls upon competent authorities for immediate release of Mohamed Sultan Al-Twejiry and reiterates that such unwarranted actions which are contradictory to all traditions and international charters and conventions including the Iraqi Constitution that grants freedom of speech.
